Witch House

Witch house is also called drag, screwgaze, illwave or crunk shoegaze. It is atmospheric electronic music typified by noises which combines ambient, crunk, shoegaze and post-dubstep.

Birth: 2008 Bloom: 2009 Death: 2010

Compositions of this genre are usually based on a «lazy» beat, the wall of sound with vintage drum machines and stringy otherworldly vocals. Often musicians prefer unreadable names such as oOoOO, Gr†ll Gr†ll, H∆UNT3D HOUS3, ///▲▲▲\\\ , †‡†. The most notable representatives of this style are Salem, White Ring, Modern Witch, Balam Acab and oOoOO. Musicians usually prefer to be mysterious — to hide faces and real names.

The most important role in the popularization of this style was played by music blogosphere. The blogosphere created the exterior style of witch house – crazy collaging, poor quality pictures, dark colors and hints of occult symbolism. The majority of authoritative music critics suppose that witch house is a seasonal fashion with a great publicity.
