Breakcore

Breakcore is a style of electronic dance music largely influenced by hardcore-techno, jungle and noise. Breakcore compositions are also influenced by breakbeat taking into consideration the tempo, complexity, and density of the sound.

Birth: 1993 Bloom: 1994

Breakcore emerged when rave reached its peak in the 1993. In Berlin and Cologne the Bass Terror Crew began to play hard breakbeat records designed for 33RPM at speed 45RPM. Moreover, ex-hardcore DJ Tanith used to throw breakcore parties.

At the same time many hardcore artists got bored of invariable hardcore sound and became interested in Danish Gabber, later in its subgenre speedcore. But some of them decided to continue developing the jungle style.

Breakcore sound has changed because of the influence of rave music and as the result the style attracted listeners of grindcore, industrial, noise, and IDM.

Breakcore were developed further due to decline in prices for computers, that`s why many popular compositions were made at home with trackers – simple computer programs for creating music.

It`s believed that first serious breakcore compositions were released in Berlin. Breakcore has been contributed by record labels such as Riot Beats and Digital Hardcore Recording.

Venetian Snares is considered to be a legend of this style; he elevated the level of aggressive electronic to the big art. In his composition a crazy breakbeat is combined with elements of classical music.
