G-Funk

G-funk is typified by plaintive cheap synths, a slow rhythm, deep bass, and featureless female vocals.

Birth: 1992 Bloom: 1992 Death: 1995

G-funk is the calm (inspired by Parliament/Funkadelic) version of gangsta rap, which has been developed with the help of Dr.Dre in the early 90s.

The genre found moderate mainstream popularity in the early 90s. For some time Snoop Dog was the main star of this style. After the successful album by Dr.Dre «The Chronic» in 1992 (in this album he made up a new genre) many new rap artists and producers began to copy his musical technique, that`s why G-funk became the most recognizable rap music in the 90s.
